Published Thesis ‘Mothers Perceptions of at-risk Infants Regarding Early Communication Development’.

My husband and I enjoy outdoor activities and travelling the world together. I spent the first few years of my career in South Africa working in hospitals, community-based settings and developmental centres in order to better understand and serve children with various learning and physical needs. I am extremely passionate about working with children of all ages, however my special interest areas include early intervention for children with language or learning delays; dyslexia support; additional literacy support; auditory processing delays; autism spectrum disorders; stuttering; articulation; feeding for infants; picky eating; social learning and parent education.

I am passionate about holistically supporting each child’s academic, functional and communication goals in order to allow them to reach their full potential. I am an enthusiastic therapist, using a ‘play-based- approach’ and I am motivated to serve others and witness lives change. I am excited to share my skills and knowledge to empower parents, caregivers and teachers to raise champions in this generation. I believe that each child should be CELEBRATED on what they CAN do.

A play-based approach focuses on building a relationship with the child using play as a medium. While it may be less structured than traditional therapy approaches, it is nonetheless purposeful and goal-oriented. Its theoretical underpinnings focus on looking at how the child develops and how the child’s communication can grow. (Jill Flores, M.S., CCC-SLP)
